Most of the reason that I need a laptop is because I need to use Microsoft Office for all of my schoolwork. I mostly use PowerPoint, Word, and Publisher. It is absolutely necessary that I am able to use these programs and share documents with other PC users through email and such. I'm concerned about the file format. If I get Office for mac, will I be able to share with other PC users? Also, will I be able to open these files from a portable USB on a PC? I just need any sort of information on the capatibility of these two programs.

Emailing documents might cause problems where the email recipient gets a garbled attachment that won't open.
