Mary -- I used PrintShop for years. Here's the link to the Apple Store page on 'drawing.' Also 'Print Explosion' is good. It's included in this link: iPhoto has a beautiful card making function, using your own photos. It's stunning really. If you have iPhoto, it's free.

If not, you can get it easily and cheaply via the AppStore. You can also do photo books & calendars through iPhoto. Also, Pages -- a program in iWork. I haven't used it, but those who have, love it.

I'll bet that's the one you heard about. Mary, I can't make out what the question is in this second post of yours. What I suggested is that you go to the App Store, select the Graphics & Design category, and read about each of the apps that looks or sounds as though it might suit your purposes. You aren't going to find anything that does all Corel Draw can do for $50 or less, never mind for free, but you may find something much less expensive than Corel Draw or Illustrator that will do everything you actually need it to do. I've used Illustrator for years myself, so I haven't experimented with anything on the App Store and can't recommend any of those programs from personal experience.

Mornin' all, Now before I get 'Photoshop' etc as answers, I need the idiots version of whatever you suggest. I'm getting married next year and have been given the job of being invite design honcho for the engagement party and wedding (and also things like placecards etc) because 'I know about computers' (which is clearly something I need to sort out. ) We've got the paper etc (my god, how expensive can a few sheets of paper be!!!) and the design has been picked, but it's up to me to sort out the printing. It's going to be printed on card so I was thinking of doing up the (pretty basic) design and taking it to a printer to get it done. Ideally I need a piece of software that I can set the size of the paper and format the working and pictures. I'm not sure Pages will be good enough and my scouting around on MacTalk brings me threads discussing this about two years ago, so I thought there might be something new about now.

The critical things I need are • compatibility with whatever a printer would use when I take it to them • idiot proof • something that would allow me to add different names to the same design in the invite field (i.e. Print out each individual invitation) • something that could format invitations, place cards and whatever else I might need to do Any thoughts anyone?? You'll need InDesign and Photoshop. Unfortunately, printers software is not compatible with the 'idiots' versions of these. You'll also need to ensure that all images are converted to CMYK before being sent to a printer (RGB images can cause problems with RIPS) InDesign is the most powerful and compatible piece of software out there for page layout. Pretty complicated when you start using it, but you get used to it's features pretty quickly. Also before you send it off to a printer, make sure that you preflight the documents so that everything sits in a nice little package for them to print from.
